Croatian Key Maker

While waiting for our taxi to Split airport, I saw our hosts office neighbour at work and it made me wonder what the key to our great experience here has been. With a Roman palace at it's heart, in a UNESCO listed area, that we stayed 2 minutes from ....we were off to a good start. But in every restaurant, bar or shop we visited and even those non commercially motived individuals we spoke with - there has been a politeness, pride and humour that warmed our hearts.
