I really want a DSLR

But what one do I get? I currently have a Fuji Finepix S9500 and a film SLR and I want to trade them both in for a nice little digital upgrade. I would very much like this little peice of machinery but I'm afraid it's a bit out of my price range. So therefore I'm thinking more along the lines of a nice mainstream Nikon like the D40x or the D200 perhaps...
