X Flares at last!

The anticipation of X class flares was fulfilled at lunch time today. Not, however from the Earth facing spots, but from the hardly visible spot group AR 2087 at the Sun's south-eastern limb. (seen on the far left)
Two flares were produced, X2.2 and X1.5. As neither were Earth directed there will be little or no impact from them although there was some ionisation in our upper atmosphere causing a little radio disturbance.
The Sun is quite active at the moment and more strong flares are likely. I always say this and nothing ever comes of it, but just maybe......
