Downlooker

Just love the name of this little thing – Downlooker Snipe Fly.
Because that’s just what they do and what this one was doing – looking down!

Apparently they spend a lot of time head down on sunny tree trunks on the lookout for passing prey. They catch smaller insects in flight, taking them back to their lookout post to eat. The things you find out.

(Still playing at macro and trying to get the focusing right. Some way to go yet.)
