Three Y-Ears = 1095

Well Blippers, that is now three years worth of blips and it has only taken me three and a half years to achieve. Sadly though, I have not yet achieved 365 consecutive blips.

First I am truly grateful for the interest others have shown in my photos - the stars, the favourites and the comments, you are all very generous. Thank you.

For me, Blip has always been about the challenge of producing a quality photograph every day, rather than the text that goes into the journal. I reckon that I spend an average of 3 hours a day finding and processing the images that I bring you, but sadly that leaves little time for commenting on the journals of others. My apologies for that.

My first year was supposed to be 365 consecutive but a bout of illness caused me to miss 4 days. I then lost some motivation and blipped only around 5 days a week. Later, I found myself rallying and having managed 6 months without a gap, I then made a deliberate effort to keep it up daily until I completed 365. All being well, that will be achieved in a few days time (on the 15th). Thereafter, I will again ease back in order to catch up with household maintenance and family reunions. Don't worry, I'll be back again before long as I am not going to waste my lifetime membership.

Before I joined Blip, I considered myself to be a competent photographer, having been at it since the mid 1960s and well acquainted with old wet processing and groping around in a darkroom. The advent of digital photography revived my interest and then joining blip made me work harder to produce acceptable images. Instead of just being a fair-weather photographer, I have found fresh inspiration on wet and windy days. Even so, there were days when I had inly mediocre material to work with and that was when I was forced to delve into the depths of photo-editing software in order to make an impact. As a result, I have become more digitally competent. Thank you Blip. I have now rejoined the local photographic society after a break of over 30 years.

* My blip is three ears of corn, each in the shape of a letter 'Y' and thus representing my three Y-ears worth of blips).
