Dejeuner sur les Roches

Another day in the fast lane! Grey and muggy for most of the day, I started off by digging up the second lot of early spuds. The greenery had looked wonderful then it went spotty and the haul underneath was small and disappointing but they taste good. I then cleared around the currants where bracken and bullrushes were encroaching.

In the afternoon we went over the mountain. My pal Finola had kindly offered to proof read and she has done an excellent job spotting stray colons, over exuberant exclamation marks, too many incredibles and the worst typo - a small plague in Bantry instead of a small plaque! We have also had it checked by a local man who knows everything there is to know about the area and he too was very encouraging, so the final check is imminent.

Too many distractions on the way home though, We stopped off in Ballydehob, wandered around the lake and estuary and watched a dog swimming up and down, wagging its tail with sheer delight. A sea shanty festival is about to erupt but not until about midnight tonight - too late for us, we might have a wander around tomorrow.
Even more distractions - on almost reaching home we stopped off again to join Annabel and Klaus on the rocks for a bottle of wine. The sun had shone through everywhere, looked amazing, the water shimmered invitingly and Annabel and I plunged into the sea while the men lounged on the rocks - very Dejeuner sur l'Herbe - almost! It was freezing but tingly. And that's my glass of wine waiting to be enjoyed.
