We drove from MK to Alresford; mostly by smaller roads. England green and glorious at the height of summer and, for a lot of the way, the skies full of red kites.
At the church in the centre of town we buried M's sister, Lucy. It was as good an occasion as these things can be; mostly because the rector was a genuine friend of Lucy's so the eulogy was heartfelt and reflected her truly. M sang, always moving, and her brother Mike managed a brave and touching eulogy of his own.
She was buried with her husband in the chalky soil, in a beautiful cemetery full of gravestones of French prisoners of war from the Napoleonic Wars.

The church was right behind me when I took this blip. It is still a chemists/pharmacy, which was owned by M, Lucy and Mike's grandfather in Victorian times. Their mother was born upstairs in 1907. With Meles and Mike are cousin John and Mike's son, Guy. I don't know who the man is who's talking to the dog.
I have put a photo in my Blipfolio taken from nearly the same spot in 1897. One of the little lads standing outside the door is Cousin John's father.

Remember to raise a glass on the 14th!!
