Cucumis sativus

The first of several cucumbers on their way! It's about 30mm long, so I'll pick it when it is lengthened ten-fold.

I have planted two varieties in the green house this year: Passandra (a miniature variety which has been very successful in the past - one cue does a meal so they are always fresh) and, for the first time, Telegraph Improved, an 'heirloom' variety which produces standard long cucumbers. I'm not a huge cucumber fan - but freshly picked from the greenhouse, they are a very different animal.

I also grow cherry tomatoes, courgettes, runner and french beans, and pea shoots, basil, rocket, spinach and mixed lettuce leaves for salads.
