European Eagle Owl

The Natural History Museum hosted a raptor show this morning, with a very entertaining personable speaker, and three amazing birds. This horned owl (Bubo bubo--I had to get that in, it's such fun to say) is at the top of the food chain, with a large individual capable of carrying a 27 pound deer! This particular beauty was a rescue, raised in captivity as an educational specimen.
