Not Gone Fishing

Today we went on a fossil hunting trip in Whitby on request of Eldest, who has always been interested in all things palentological. Inspired by fellow blipper CoffeePotter we booked an organised field trip. Even with the dull, mizzley weather, it was still really good fun, saw stegosaur footprints and we have come home with a fine cache of amonites and belmnites. We left some behind in the ' amonite graveyard' so named because there were a concentrated number all in one place and so thought to be the result of a natural mass fatality.

We also had a lovely walk through Whitby, which I have to say was much nicer in the early morning before the crowds arrived and along the quay fishermen were getting ready for a day at sea.
