Not really summer

We were meeting pals from our university days at Mill Cottage, in Feshiebridge, this weekend for a catch up and a chance to hill walk together. The forecast was quite optimistic, especially for the afternoon. We set off for Bynack More and then on towards Loch Avon and up to Caingorm. However, there were several drizzle showers, at regular intervals, and the cloud didn't ever lift above 1050 metres. The blip was taken on the southern slopes of Bynack More, at the tors of the Barns of Bynack. It is looking south to the Glen Shee hills and shows just how much snow is left this early summer. It was quite warm and still, but this lot won't be going anywhere quickly. There's more in the west this year, and it could be a bumper year for snow patch survivals to next winter's lasting snow.

Backblip of poppy.
