Cedar Waxwing in a Nest

Cedar Waxwings (Bombycilla cedrorum) are among our prettiest birds. This is close to a friend's house; he provided a stepladder to get me a couple of steps off the ground--still not a easy shot through the leafy small tree.

The friend is Henry, an excellent birder in our club, and in his principal life a juggler and performer, often evoking birds. He recently spent a month in South Africa, including an intense two week group tour performing at schools, organized by Clowns Without Borders. He shared an excellent slide show with images from the trip--it must have been fabulous.

Here's an earlier blip about Henry and his friend Petula.
