Iceland Day 2 - Gullfoss upper falls

Thanks for all the comments on my first Icelandic blip. Wi-fi time is in short supply as there are so many sights to see and photograph, so I'll catch up when I'm home again.

Today we have been to Thingvellir where the tectonic plates are moving apart and we saw lots of deep volcanic fissures, and a lovely waterfall which put pretty much everything back home to shame, except maybe High Force at full bore.

We then had a buffet picnic at about 2pm before moving on via Lake Thingvallavaten which was beautiful and had some lovely birds on it too. We then went to Geysir which was very other worldly, but decidedly smelly due to all the sulpher springs. We saw small bubbling pools, and also Strokkur which erupted about every 10 minutes. It was also free to get into aswell!

We then moved on to Gullfoss which is truely magnificant, and is far better than Kaiteur in Guyana, which I thought was very impressive last year, although the journey to this one was rather tame in comparison. The power of this waterfall is really hard to describe, other than Wow! I hope that this picture gives a sense of the power of it.

Day 3 will be more waterfalls and some beaches.
