Devina Marina

As predicted, it was a relatively noisy night ... trains. So despite the campground being good in some respects, mostly close to the ocean, we decided to check out some other options. 3km up the road we found Camping Village Valdeiva. Large, quiet and cheaper, 42 per night instead of 57, plus we go a nice large shady spot. Wifi, well, not quite as good, the kids will just have to cope!

By 11.30 we’d all moved and decided to head back up the coast, through all the great one way tunnels, to Sestri Levante to get a few chores done. Grocery shopping done, gas done, ATM done, Vodafone shop closed – drat, a look around the town done, lunch at a great pizzeria done! Actually, the pizzeria was excellent, relatively affordable (all pizzas we’ve seen see to be 6-8 euro on average, and the kids even had a chip pizza! That just isn’t right …

Back to Devina Marina and a stop at the beach, time for a swim! Kids complained about “too many people”, they seem to have a thing about it, but once were there, in the cool water, it; was all just too good. They wanted to stay! Amazing to be honest, water is amazingly clear, relatively warm and with little tide. No tide due to the Strait of Gibraltar, and clear due to a lack of phytoplankton, meaning the sea is not that productive … which surprised me.

Campsite, and a relatively early night, big day walking the Cinque Terre tomorrow …
