The Midshipman's Tale

A long sail of eleven hours, starting out in light winds and sunshine. The wind strengthened and strengthened and rain and low cloud skudded in. Occasionally I caught sight of a boat ahead on the same course and then it was gone, so it back to following the compass. And then it all lifted, glorious light on the small isles and Ardnamurchan. Still a good blow though as we cut close under the lighthouse. And then it was goose winging all the way down the Sound of Mull with the tide and into Loch Aline.
And two guys invited us over to their boat! Palatial compared to our cramped quarters. Not a hammock in sight. But plenty whisky, bloody hell yes.
