#womensvoices

I went to an event about #indyref this evening, tagged #womensvoices. It seemed to be co-produced between the ESRC Future of Scotland and the UK programme, and some third sector women. It was held in the Merchant's Hall, which I've never been in before, but which unsurprisingly features a lot of men's pictures on the wall (and busts). The only women looking down from the wall were royalty...

One of the things I liked about the event was that when the women politicians arrived, we were discussing at individual tables. They just sat down and joined in. You can see Nicola Sturgeon here, but I didn't manage to get a similar picture with Sarah Boyack. They did stand up later and make very short presentations, and responded to questions. But there was none of that awful hectoring of the audience, or shouting at each other. Very civilised.

Interesting event.
