Matt

Matt Pinder worked front of house at Filmhouse when I started there in 1999, when he was a film student. He's now an award-winning filmmaker, involved in great journalistic television like The Hunt For Britain’s Sex Gangs, Channel 4's Dispatches investigation into the grooming and exploitation of teenage girls, which was recently nominated for a BAFTA. He also directed a really wonderful film called The Nurture Room, which we screened at Filmhouse a few years ago and which I still think of often. He was through from Glasgow for the day to take part in an industry event at EIFF, and we caught up over a beer afterwards. Lovely to see him, he's a smashing fella.

Had my second Q&A with the amazing team behind Virunga tonight – a sold out screening and a hugely positive reaction from the audience. This is when the months of slogging through submissions becomes worth it. :-)

More EIFF portraits.
