Thistle and butterfly

Can someone please put me out of my misery and tell me what it is?

We went to Stockbridge Marsh this afternoon and had a good walk with Murphy. We were trying to make up for yesterday when he spent most of the day in the car.

We met lots of nice people and their dogs.

Since coming home we've done a tiny bit of gardening assisted by Murphy who likes to drag any cut off branches round the garden.
