High Street

After seeing Tony Marlow off on the start of his Bob Graham adventure last night I drove to Kirkstone pass to meet with Ian and we both traveled to Pooley Bridge for the start of Martin's Joss Naylor Lakeland Challenge at 2am.

The picture shows Martin (right) with Ian on the way up High Street at about 4 am just as it was coming light. We got to Kirkstone Pass for about 5.30am and handed Martin over to a fresh set of pacers for the 2nd leg to Dunmail Raise.

The Joss Naylor Lakeland Challenge is a linear route from Pooley Bridge to Greendale in Wasdale, a distance of 48 miles with 17,000 feet of ascent. Martin had a storming run and finished in 16h 39m well within his allowed time.

There are some more pictures of Martin's round here

After a brew and a bacon butty we travelled to Dunmail to watch everyone go through it was really busy and the atmosphere was great.

On route to Wasdale for the finish I picked off a couple more Wainwrights, Base Brown and Mellbreak so I now have only one left to complete all 214.

Late Edit - I have just looked at my 'One Year Ago Picture' and it is of Ian (left in today's blip) about to set off on his epic Bob Graham round.
