Hanky-panky by the lake...

Another day of dragons, including four first-ever dragons for me, as well as 3 life-first damsels. Yep, gotta love summer. I was out with my nature/walking group today in a part of the county I've not been to before.

This photo is of two frosted whiteface dragons, mating (if you didn't already guess...). Not only were these a life-first for me, but I was told by the ode-experts on the walk that they are uncommon in NJ. I was pretty excited to have spotted them, and even happier when they proceeded to fly around in their mating circle, landing on different blades of grass in the water. Pretty cool.

Although we heard lots of birds, it was mostly a day of dragons and butterflies. I posted 14 other shots from today (mostly odes) on Flickr, starting HERE. In addition to another shot of dragon porn, I also posted a predation shot of a damsel eating a moth (yikes).
