River Boats....Too Many !

Walked along by the river today, one of my favourite places. As a young teenager, this was a meeting place for school friends. The playground behind the trees was quite basic then but such fun. A huge slide where we would whizz down and land on the concrete and where my cousin ripped her best dress ! Also a big wooden roundabout where we would hang on as the boys showed no mercy in spinning us girls round. Two of us would stand up on the swing face to face and try and get over the bar, but nobody ever did. There was no 'elf 'n' safety but we didn't get hurt. There were no barges permanently moored here and it was where we'd sit and fish or jump in the water for a swim. Everybody would take a dip in the river Cam as we hadn't heard of pollution. We'd mess about in an old rowing boat sometimes. This part of the river wasn't particularly deep either. We made our own fun and it was a good time to be young.
