The Grandest of All Grand Departs

Is how race director Christian Prudhomme has described his experience of Yorkshire's start to Tour De France

Who are we to argue with such an obvious truth !

Another grand day. Despite getting front row viewing yesterday, I was even more enthused having seen the footage of the tour over the hills . I wanted to see bikes on green rather than streets

A 5 mile round walk to get to Oxenhope was worth it

It was everything yesterday was and more. Crowds on the slopes, on stone walls, on hills. Crowds waving flags, wearing strings of onions , drinking French wine and eating blue cheese , crowds assembled together like one huge family

Feel the love, feel the energy, feel the enthusiasm

This is Yorkshire

The peloton seemed to pass slower today( that'd be the hill then ) so we got to see the cyclists in more detail today . Astonishing strength and determination .

Sadly lads you 've got " the south " tomorrow :), but we hope the time in Yorkshire feeds you and keeps you going the whole tour

Love from the 5 million Yorkshire people who lined the streets this weekend....
