Flare at last!!

The Sun produced a strong M6 flare yesterday, hooray. However, it was not from one of the massive Earth facing sunspot groups, but from the rash of tiny spots to the upper left of the image, designated AR2113. Appearances can be deceptive as an active region will not always look spectacular. As it was not Earth directed we are unlikely to see any effects re auroras, however the X Ray and UV radiation from the flare flash caused some disruption to short wave radio propogation in our atmosphere although it did not last long and everything is back to normal now.
