Buzzzzzzz!

Or not to buzz, as this enormous bumble bee didn't make a sound!

Spotted while sitting in the garden.
The plant it is resting on is Delosperma Cooperi Common name trailing ice plant. see details here
A dwarf perennial native to South Africa, which we have in our alpine trough.
Beautiful bright pink flowers which open in the sunshine and close at night.
The flowers are only 3cms across so you can see how big this bee was.

Sorry not a very good photo, but my shadow was a problem, and the very bright sunlight. Only managed three photos before it silently flew off! Might be better large.
