Moonrise over the Dinghies, Purau Bay

The line up of dinghies at the Purau jetty is a well known Peninsula landmark, one of those places that both locals and tourists regularly take photos of. Trying to find an alternate take on such well trodden subject is always a bit of a challenge, so I thought I'd try my own interpretation. As I shot this the moon was cresting the hills on the other side of the bay, providing a beautiful, etherial backlight.

It was quite fitting that I shot this tonight, as this evening I gave a talk on night photography to fellow members of the Diamond Harbour Camera Club. I think it might get an airing in our follow-up session...
