Detail at the Badia Fiesolana

This blip, and the one I took yesterday, have really shown me the benefit of shooting in RAW. I'm also taking jpgs simultaneously (storage will soon become an issue...) and thus it's possible to compare the final jpeg file which results from manipulating the RAW image a little bit, with the original jpg file stored by the camera. The results show that the RAW image captures so much more detail.

Now a certain person sitting across the room from me now has been saying this to me for years, but you have to actually do something for yourself before you really believe it. Really perceive it.

This was taken in a short break amidst a long day of conferencing, followed by an excellent dinner at a trattoria in town which went on late into the night and involved prodigious amounts of food that we could barely do justice to.

It was an interesting conference on secession from and withdrawal of states in the context of the European Union. Highly topical.
