The Ringlets are past their peak, but there are still quite a few about, including this one. The slight is odd angle suggests that it only has one antenna, but the other is there, just disguised by the depth of field.

The Small Skippers are now the most abundant butterflies in our local patch of moor, with a scattering of Meadow Brown, Small Heath and Large Skipper. The summer Small Tortoiseshells are just starting to emerge, but no sign of the Gatekeepers yet.

The ebb and flow of butterfly life.
