Epic Coo...

Yesterday, I had a wee chin wag with Bethany as we walked up the hill. We came across this, traditional Ging' Heelan' Coo and a Black Heelan' Coo. From a distance, the black one looks like a proper bull that you come to see on television and in the media. Said media bulls are generally portrayed as aggressive charging grumpy beasts, which Bethany was a bit cautious of.

I tried to explain that bulls aren't generally like that in real life but instead only become like that if provoked which with our wide berth, we certainly weren't going to.

Tonight, I took the dog out for an extended sans chidlers#, walk up the hills to get to the top of the ones that can be seen from the campsite. Dog and I were trying to find a path up that went quite close to this beast and we almost had a slight disagreement. When we came close, she/he stamped/scraped her foot and grunted slightly.

We took a long way round.

Luckily, the long way round got us to this side of her which was most fortuitous for this shot.

Dug and I proceeded up the hill and made it via some rather sketchy paths to the top for some more stunning views right around the neighbouring hills, Mull and beyond.

Aside from this, we took a wee walk along to the diving school just basically for the walk but also to enquire around the costs for diving taster lessons. Proper scuba diving is on my bucket list but Bethany surprisingly also expressed a lot of interest. We found that the Sound of Kerrera on the banks of which we are staying, seems to be a massive breeding ground for large clam shells and a lot of which wash up at the pier here. We collected a few to take home.

We also found that some sort of reed grows here in abundance too. After showing the kids how to make them scream by blowing through them, we collected up a load and I tried and quite successfully made a mat by weaving a bunch of them together.

#chidler (n): Human child as defined by Roald Dahl in the BFG.
