Sgwarnog: In the Field

Small Heath

Dodging rain showers and thunderstorms, some butterflies were still on the wing today.

The Small Heaths are more or less permanent residents of the moor through late spring and summer and have a range that goes higher up the hill than most species.  They're also notable as the only one of our butterfly neighbours that never pops over the wall into our garden, although they're quite happy in the grasses just a few paces on the other side.

A low key Saturday after recent manic weekends.
