Flow gently

A busy morning strimming, mowing and hacking back some truly colossal brambles. We decided to go for a walk a little later, the Norwegians forecasters, usually very reliable, (yr.no) assurring us that the sun would break through around 2pm. I wanted to walk the recently re-opened old butter route from Schull to Ballydehob so we set off across the mountain. The heavens opened, the Norwegians lied. We did a little shopping and the lashing turned to a soft warm drizzle and we thought we could cope with that. We set off. It was steaming and the horseflies were having a ball but once we got onto the old green road it was lovely. A small track, with a profusion of wild flowers on each side led off inland. We passed a ruined farm, a few yappy dogs, an old farmer and his shaggy dog, a man training a young horse, some elegant horses in their fields, and a foal. We followed the course of a small river, crossing over by stepping stones at one point. Feet hurting, very sweaty and in need of a large ice cream we did the full circle and ended back in schull. The ice cream was satisfactorily enormous. A swim on the way home and now relax!

Flow Gently

And I seem to have been eating ice cream this time last year too
