Early to bed, early to rise!

Last few metres towards summit of Gran Paradiso, 4061m, Italy.

Our guide for the week took this picture of me carefully negotiating the last few metres of this epic climb.

Had breakfast at 4:00 this morning and were on the slopes by 4:35. Summited after 4.5 hours of climbing up the various glaciers and then this final rocky ledge.

Fantastic way to round off a great week's climbing in the Alps!
