Lunch after the Lagazuoi Tunnels

The rain drove us deep underground, into the tunnels at Lagazuoi built by the Italians during the first 6 months of 1917, with the purpose of blowing up the Austrian tunnels above. (Apparently the Italians did manage to blow up the Austrian tunnels in June 2017, taking off the top of one of the peaks at the same time. The Austrians had, however, heard them coming and so the explosion caused no casualties.)

After walking down and around the labyrinth of tunnels, we skirted around the outside, finding more huts, including a mess hut and this cave, the washing hut, complete with concrete tub.
