Reflections Of The Falkirk Wheel

The Falkirk Wheel was the first rotating boat lift in the world... and indeed it is still the only one of its knid. Built to link the Union Canal with the Forth and Clyde Canal, it raises one boat 24m (79ft) while it lowers another by the same distance... all with just 22.5kW of power, and a total energy expenditure of 1.5kWh - roughly the same as boiling eight kettles of water.

Today, my mum and I dropped Cameron off at the golf course, then went for a wander along the canal to the wheel. The weather was gorgeous, and we had a lovely walk... and Cameron came in second in his competition too!

So, a good day all round
