We had a friend with is from early on this morning. Wee miss E came before breakfast (bringing yummy breakfast treats with her!). The girls ate a feast before going to feed the bunnies, chase round the garden, play dress ups, play mummies, play Lego, chalk in the garden... All before 930am.

We got the bus to town and headed to the library. Katie had her first session at the summer reading challenge. She had proudly read her book in preparation and took it along with her. She got a bit shy about talking about it but answered a couple of leading questions. They did a treasure hunt, some writing. She really liked it. It was nice for her to be part of something for bigger kids. I think she's going to enjoy it this summer.

Before the session, there had been some (very talented) buskers in town. The girls had danced for a while to the music. They did the same after too!

We had packed a picnic so headed to the pretty gardens near the town centre. The girls skipped and played before they asked to go to the swing park. That was a fairly short trip - they felt the call of ice cream.

After we took Miss E home, Katie and I headed to the swimming pool. I had decided to take a risk and take her along to the splash session for the first time. It was a very busy session. She did awesome! She swam down to the deep end. She then spent 45 minutes with the teenagers, jumping in from the diving edge and swimming back to the side, doing it again and giggling her heart out. All the teenagers were very impressed and thought she was fabulous.

We headed home and got back just in time for granny and grandad. Grandad and Katie spent a while playing in the garden before a roast dinner (she ate nothing despite requesting it and it being her favourite!). After tea they disappeared off to play Legos.

Boy are we enjoying this summer holiday lark
