Glasgow is Piping Hot

Glasgow was rocking in the stunning weather, as it gears up for the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games tonight.

Throngs of visitors were enjoying the hot conditions and the street entertainment all along Buchanan Street. This young female piper was entertaining the visitors.

More than 4,500 athletes from 71 Commonwealth nations and territories will parade during the curtain-raiser. The ceremony will open a 12-day sporting contest in and around Glasgow. Athletes specialising in 17 different sports are taking part.

Glasgow 2014 is the twentieth Commonwealth Games. It is the first time in 28 years that the Games have been held in Scotland.
