Top of the Rock

Totally gob-smacked with all the lovely comments, stars and hearts from yesterday's birthday bash -my most popular blip ever! Thanks you so much, and if I haven't got round to thanking you personally - I will!

A busy day - we left home in the steamy rain on a book delivery expedition (they're flying!) and headed for Bantry. Books delivered we went on to Drimoleague and Top of the Rock Pod Pairc. What a fantastic achievement this is. A little village of eco pods nestling in the most beautiful countryside, suitable for walkers or families. The pods are designed on the Gallarus Oratory and are compact to say the least - just room for two teeny beds, but the site is well equipped with showers, kitchens, laundry, campfires and friendly animals. We had a great chat with David and Elizabeth who produced homemade scones and jam. Then we decided to do one of the walks in this area. It was sweltering and clammy but the sun did come out for a while. This is very different coutnryside - green, rolling hills and rivers. We walked up then down tiny tracks alongside fields full of blue flowers (flax?) and then followed the path of a river complete with cascades. Too humid though - a huge 99 was needed shortly afterwards.
A swim has just been taken and now we are off to the theatre! Yes, the fabulous Fit Up Theatre Company who venture where no other theatre companies dare, is heading our way and tonight we're going to Kilcrohane village hall to see a production of Beowulf the Blockbuster! Catch you later.
