Sunbathers, Shades & Sun-Hoppers

Grey start to the day blew off during the early afternoon and it was another full-blooded summer day. A swim or the Bray funfair? After I gave the wean his lunch I rang TP to see if he'd welcome another visit. He would, and he told us he'd got free tickets to give away for the rides. The idea of free tickets did the trick (even though it really didn't make much difference as I'd have paid anyway) and the three of us, Lola, the wean and myself, were into the Yaris before you could say hothouse flowers.

Driving over the railway tracks onto the seafront it hit us: a packed screaming, throbbing, spinning, swirling, windmilling high water mark, the whole prom a pop-up action painting (but utterly figurative). Diesel and ice cream, engine grease and tattoos, sunbathers and sunhoppers, children and hobblers... you know the mix. And the sun behind it all, always a carnie at heart.

We called round to TP and Lynnn. Good to see them as always. TP gave us the vouchers which bought a go in the Jungle something or other and the beloved water balls. I paid for two goes at the basketball-prize shy (or whatever it's called) and he won himself a Despicable Me minion (which he rooted out of the bottom of a basket of fluffy bears and dogs). It was a good day.
