New BMW Electric

Here's a shot of the new BMW i3 (at least new to us here in the U.S.). It boasts a 88 mile range without a need for a charge, sporty with more torque than horsepower, and suicide doors (yes, it's a 4-door).

It also boasts a $43,000 plus price tag as seen here.

There's another version that has a small gas engine that will increase the mileage to 120 miles. It only holds two gallons of gas. Why didn't they do something like the Chevy Volt and use the engine as a recharge plant when needed?

Also, roaming around the BMW lot I noticed that the genius German marketing team has now provided numerical sequentiality for their vehicles. There is now a choice of a 1 series, 2 series, 3 series, 4 series, 5 series, 6 series, 7 series and 8 series. I wonder if they are considering the 9 and 10 series?

No Vrrrroom vrrooom noise with the all electric...
