Marathon Man: Glasgow 2014

Today was Marathon Day at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. I travelled early to ensure I saw part of the morning marathon before heading for Hampden Park and a full afternoon of athletics.

I have lots of photos, but I luckily managed to get this fairly close shot of Michael Shelley, running for Australia and the eventual winner of the marathon.

The picture was taken at just over half way, and a small group had broken away. The weather was good for marathon running, cool, overcast and gentle rain at times - a help in keeping the body cool under such enormous pressure from running at pace for over 26 miles.
