Abstract in a Garden of Meditation

In the Hospice Gardens is a white walled area some 4m square that encloses a simple space of seating, with open windows to look upon the rest of the grounds whilst being fairly sheltered inside. There is a path around a circle of grass that has as its central feature a glass and metal sculpture with a sphere of cascading water that falls into a steel dish that then drips into the base whereupon it all goes around again, and again and again. Every day at some point I sit a while and let the mesmeric flow wash over me.

A very relaxed, enjoyable afternoon and evening with Dad. Gareth, wife and kids were there as well in the afternoon - as last weekend - the family together. After they left, dinner for Dad and me included a selection of cheeses with grapes, salad, biscuits and red wine while we watched Midsomer Murders, then Morse and then the Prom concert on BBC4. It was almost a normal Sunday evening for us - and a memorable time to treasure.

Home and watched the rest of the Prom on BBC4 and a fascinating programme about classical music in China while drinking today's Ale. Gareth arrived after doing his ironing but declined the opportunity to do mine. Brothers!
