Gotham City

...here we come! We walked around the convention center and surrounding Gaslamp District in San Diego, where the annual Comicon convention was in full swing. What started out in 1970 with 145 comic book enthusiasts has grown into a major event within the television and film industry and attendance of 130,000 to 170,000 devoted fans. Dubbed as a "celebration of the popular arts", Comicon features film and television premieres, teasers, announcements, exhibits, panel discussions, and the chance to see A-list celebrities in person. The crowds were unbelievable, and the lines snaked everywhere you could see. This photo is of an area promoting an upcoming Fox TV show called "Gotham", due out this fall(?) Attendees could wait in line to take a possibly 10 second ride on a zip line through the skies above Gotham City. There was a booth where you could go later to pick up your photo, taken as you zoom past the rooftops. What fun!
