Men's 5000 metres

We attended the athletics today with my brother and sister-in-law. It was lovely to share the experience of the first day of track and field. We enjoyed paralympic long jump (w) , heats for the 100m (m&w), the hammer and the 400m heats (w). The last event was the men's 5000m. It must be easy to recognise the runners who are out in front but I have always thought it must be hard for the commentators to pick out runners in a bunch like this. Apparently they have transponders in their vests that helps identify who is where.
I cheered for the Robertson brothers on behalf of Miffy and one of them did finish in bronze position which was great. Unfortunately his twin fell and he was doing so well until that point. Two fabulous Kenyan runners got Gold and Silver but
the winner for me was 17 year old Rosefelo Siosi from the Solomon Islands who actually finished last. He was lapped three times but he kept going and by the time he got to his final lap he did it to a standing ovation from the crowd and the roar was deafening. It was a great end to the day.
