Life still in a Daymer Bay rockpool

I was keen to get into the sun on the beach this morning as the weather forecast suggested it wouldn't last. In the end although there was intermittent cloud, the sun did shine on, and I got a bit too much of it, so that I looked a bit red under the browning skin. I didn't feel sore though, which was blessing.

After a bit of a rest in the afternoon Helena suggested we ex]go to explore another nearby beach called Daymer Bay which lies along the north shore of the river estuary opposite to Padstow. Getting there was a bit problematical as the one track road was filling with large numbers of cars leaving the beach car park, but we got there eventually.

It had quite a different atmosphere and with the tide nearly right out, and protected rom the onshore waves that abound at Polzeath it was rather quiet. But it did have some rock pools which I was pleased to explore. This image was taken by just pointing straight down into a section of a pool . I love the variety of rock types that abound her, many of them of igneous origin and with so many differing colours, shapes and patterns in their structures. The richly vivid seaweed adds a sense of the rich and varied life that abounds in these ocean waters.
