Went to Cardiff bay and saw this

Statues at Mermaid quay, Cardiff bay, that have been knit bombed.
If you go down to the bay today you may not believe your eyes, the trio of statues on Mermaid Quay have been given a summery makeover and acquired a whole new wardrobe.

People Like Us, a cluster of statues of a man, woman and dog, have been decked out with knitted bikini, crocheted shorts and bandana in time for the arrival of the artificial beach at Cardiff Bay.

The culprits for this clandestine crocheting are Welsh Woolly Wo(men) a guerilla group of knitters whose aim is to bring a smile to people’s faces.

The colourful addition to John Clinch’s sculpture appeared early on Thursday morning.

The leader of the group, who wishes to remain anonymous for operational purposes, said: “I arranged a foray party, we went out had a look, measured it and took photographs.”

“We went out this morning (Thursday) at about quarter past six. It was great fun and people have put hours of work into it especially the shorts.

“This morning we were drinking Prosecco and bucks fizz and most of us went for breakfast afterwards.”
