secret garden

Lilliputian

Crikey what a day! Off to our pals Robert and Finola for coffee and then we all set  out on a day of adventure. First stop this magnificent portal tomb at Arderrwinny . This involved a lot of scrambling, Robert pulling the plug on the electric fence,  an attack by nettles and the attentions of a large and handsome horse who was understandably surprised to see four people emerging gasping from the gorse. What an impressive monument - neolithic, possibly 6000 years old. Some colossal stones and a large chamber within, mysteriously to our eyes seemingly gazing into a rock face. Two more wedge tombs followed - one in a garden complete with two geese. Lunch in Toormore, on to Lissagriffin ancient church and wart well, then on to the end of the world at Dun Lough and 3 Castle Head. This is quite a steep climb along cliff edges into the mountain and then miraculously a small pateau opens up complete with ruined castle and large lake. Such a remote and truly beautiful spot. How did they get the materials here to build? What did they live on?  Even more miraculous the farmhouse on the way back has opened a cafe so tea and cakes were enjoyed with the most stunning views out into the Atlantic.
Spoilt for choice today for blips but I like the oddness of this one. I'm just guessing where it is on the map!

Himself has done a very different view of the same.
