The Crook Inn

Aware of the Save The Crook Inn campaign, where the local community buy-out had succeeded in raising the £160,000 purchase price at the last moment before the deadline of 31st December 2012, we stopped to see what progress had been made of late. It is a striking building, which dates from 1604, with solid Victorian renovation and classic Art Deco alterations in 1933, but which we had noticed, as we passed on our regular trips South, gradually fall into disrepair with no apparent prospect of re-use.

It turned out to be a big day in the progress of the old inn, as the Design Team were just arriving to make their first entrance through the door, to examine the conditions inside and design the interior for use by the community. It seems there are several art deco features still intact, including, we were told, a very impressive Ladies' Toilet!

I have back-blipped the last couple of days, here.
