Life in Sunny Dubai

Sea of Red

Don't you just love days when everything falls into place perfectly without you even trying?

Where do I even start with it, except to say that G arrived back from Trowbridge - made it in record time with almost no traffic, driving on a beautifully sunny day. I was already up, packed and ready. Tracy arrived to jet-wash the decking and worked solidly at it for 4 hours before stopping. Nearly all the mould is gone, as well as the paint job we had done last year(!), but it does look a lot better, and now we have to decide how to manage the wood.

A quick lunch at the Onslow Arms in Clandon which is a super pub; then packed the car and headed to London... To an airport hotel so as not to have the stress of handing back the hire car tomorrow morning. G wanted to see the City for one last time and had read about the ceramic poppies placed around the Tower of London to mark the 100th anniversary for the Great War. We made a bee-line for it and so amazed at how easy it was to find, but more so of how utterly beautiful the lighting was. Dark clouds in the sky with plenty of sunshine and we could not have timed it better.

Many pictures were taken and I wanted to do one of my normal collages to show off the evening, but have managed to narrow it down to 3 and just show this amazing poppy display. The plaque reads "Blood swept lands and seas of red" and is a work of art created by Paul Cummins. It is there till 11th November, so if you can get down to see it - please do. We walked around the Tower and I saw two servicemen taking pictures of each other in front of the display. That was so sweet. Whipped my camera out to get them in action, but they moved and I really was too embarrassed to try again or have them wondering, "why is a stranger taking a picture of us?"

A really wonderful trip to the City that never fails to impress. Was there at dusk - my favourite time to take pictures as I like to catch the lights coming on. Can't get over what a warm day it's been. To be in London in t-shirts without any type if warm clothing, even at 10pm was an experienced not to be missed. :)

Hope you've had a great day too.

Edit Saturday: Realised this got posted to the wrong date by mistake, so waiting for Blip Central to change it for me so I can post Fridays' blip! :)
