The Fixer

I try not to use the tumble dryer, much preferring the solar and wind powered old fashioned washing line method. But we had a lot to do and it was raining, so our ageing dryer was cranked into use this morning.

It has been emitting a fiendish screeching noise for some time and LooseCanon correctly diagnosed a worn bearing.

This afternoon he spent twenty pounds and four hours getting parts, trying to fix it and vacuuming out all the accumulated crud, cutting his hand in the process. When it was back together it worked for a few minutes and then the motor burned out. It's unusable and not worth mending.

Meanwhile an epic downpour flooded the garage and garden.
L/C went down the garden to inspect the flood and at that moment his watch strap broke and deposited the watch in the water.

We now have an army of slugs marching up the garden trying to escape their deluged homes, and they are currently chomping their way through our begonias.

If anyone wants a blood stained and non functioning but beautifully clean tumble dryer it is now sitting in the garage in a very large puddle.

We had to have a beer to recover
