Apple jelly

My friend gave me a bag of cooking apples from her tree yesterday, a branch having broken off and neither of us wanting to waste the fruit.

I couldn't be bothered to peel and core them all so I've just chopped and boiled them up with a bit of ginger. The juice is now draining, slowly.

I can remember my Mum making apple jelly - we used to have it with roast lamb - and she'd suspend the mushed apple in a muslin nappy over a bowl, with the knotted corners of the muslin hooked over an upside-down stool... I think the nappy was well-boiled!
