Federation Style House from New South Wales

Originally built in 1909 in Coonamble, this was once home to the Brigidine Order of nuns in Coonamble in inland New South Wales.

It is a good example of Federation Style - an Australian style used to denote a wide variety of styles of building between 1900 - when the Federation of Australia was established and 1915.

In 1990, it was carefully divided into four sections and transported on seven low loaders about 600km east to the Hunter Valley. The building was rebuilt as faithfully as possible including having new timber made in the same mill in Coonamble where the original timber was cut. It is now a hotel.

The Nuns showed their appreciation by returning the original foundation stone, stained glass windows and etched wooden doors, which they reserved when they moved into their new home at Coonamble.
